1st DECEMBER – WEST PAPUAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
The 1st December is remembered by West Papuans as the day they should have been
granted independence over 40 years ago. This year thousands of people across
West Papua will be risking their lives by publicly calling for independence
from Indonesia. In solidarity with them we will be holding an important day of
action in London, we hope you will be able to join us.

We will fist be meeting at 12 noon at the Indonesian Embassy in Grosvenor
Square for a loud and colourful demonstration in solidarity with the
demonstrations that will be happening across West Papua. Following this we will
make our way down the road to Westminster where we will be meeting with MPs and
delivering a copy of the book by Professor Pieter Drooglever (see below) to the
House of Commons. We will then have a meeting and briefing with the MPs. Please
try to join us either at the Embassy at 12 or at at 1 Parliament Street at 2pm.

The international profile of the West Papua case is growing fast and we really
hope as many of you as possible can join us on this important day to keep the
momentum going.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE BOOK “An Act of Free Choice: Decolonisation and
the Right to Self-determination in West Papua” OUT NOW

We are pleased to inform you that an English translation of this very important
book is now available. Commissioned by the Dutch Government, Professor Pieter
Drooglever has carried out a full and comprehensive investigation into the
terrible events that surrounded the 1969 Act of Free Choice which handed West
Papua over to Indonesian rule. Forty years on this revelatory book finally
exposes to the world the true nature of this despicable act. For more
